Ok, I am flat out shocked at how much I enjoyed this book. I read the synopsis, and I was sure I was going to hate the hero. I mean, the title is "Beautiful Bastard", and I'm not usually a fan of the jerky, asshole hero.

I have to admit, through a good seventy percent of this book, that Moroon 5 song, "One more night" kept streaming though my head. It was certainly the anthem for the book.

I freaking adored their snark and banter. It made me all sort of giddy.

Where to begin? I thought that the arguing interaction between Bennett and Chloe was hysterical. Although I don't know any boss who would let his assistant speak to him the way she did, no matter how big of a jerk he was.

I feel like that story has a lot of potential. The substance of the story was missing though. I mean details like we don't even know kind of car Chloe drives as we read about she and Bennett having sex in the back seat. Not every backseat is equal.

There are glaring grammatical and structural errors in the book, like starting a sentence with a lowercase letter, names not capitalized, sections of the book, which I assume were added or adjusted placed out of order. Example is the section where Chloe gives Bennett a blow job while they are in San Francisco. You're reading along when there's a word out of place then you continue to read and then the added (red) section comes up at the end and you realize it was supposed to be at two pages back at the beginning where you were confused.

The sex was great to read. For as much of it as there was, the writer made each action interesting. Some of the peripheral characters should be built up a bit better and for us to know who they are and what they mean to the main characters.

Also, the author misses an opportunity to have someone outside of the relationship screw things up for either Bennett or Chloe when he is witnessed staring a her during the convention.

The author also glosses over what the Convention is really for. I gleam from the book that it's where interns and their companies do an early presentation of what their thesis will be as well as get the opportunity to mingle and try to make connections to get a job when they graduate. Not really sure since Bennett ends up having some kind of meeting with another company to give them one of their smaller contracts, which doesn't make any sense.

I didn't hate it and laughed in quite a few places, which is why I didn't give it one star. But it's not going to win any literary prizes and had a lot of errors, which is why I didn't give it more than two stars. ...more

There were at least 30 pages that didn't need to be in the book. In the first half of it I was thinking this book is so good but as I continued to read I started to get annoyed, once they realized they love each other they started to tell it constantly - I love you and I love you too and it was a bit too much and I think there was a lot of useless information.

I must admit, at the beginning I was a bit skeptical about reading this book. I wasn't sure how I would feel about reading a book involving a rich, sexy bastard that, from all the other reviews, seemed to mimic the likes of the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy. But let me be the first (or second, or third) to tell you, this is nothing like the FSOG.

It's crazy ......and wonderful the best mix of romance humor passion and thrills. I'm still not ok about the publishing if something that was given for free and based on stolen characters.......I'm sure she was talented enough to do something more original...but then again maybe I'm wrong ...more

Review: Beautiful Bastard was sexy and entertaining. Set in Chicago, the story is told from the alternating view points of both Chloe and Bennett. I rather liked the different P.O.V.'s, it kept things interesting. The biggest praise I can give this book is for the chemistry between the characters. It was scorching, raw, and intensely volitale. The tension between Chloe and Bennett was palpable and the sex scenes were freakin hot. In fact, there was so much sex, I feared it would become repetitive and boring. Nope. Thanks to some inventive settings, from dressing to board rooms, it steamy right to the end. Watching the relationship between Chloe and Bennett develop and evolve was quite entertaining as well.

There was also a few very likeable minor characters that were introduced. I'm hoping we'll see more of them in future works.

My only real criticism is for the depth to the plot and characters, which was very much lacking. The main characters were great, but felt underdeveloped. There was rather a lot of sex scenes, but not enough cohesive dialog to tie things together. Perhaps if the story was a bit longer it would have felt more balanced. This on was really fun the banter between Mr. Ryan and Ms. Mills was expressed with words and their bodies. These two are a matched made somewhere, they are both feisty and strong willed. The chemistry between the two is scorching one of them may get burned. Really a fun read, these two were just fun to watch as they tried to figure each other out and what they truly wanted from the other. 4.5 stars
