Jenny: Well G, this certainly had us sobbing didn’t it? Fighting Redemption was such an impassioned, rich and beautifully told story of love friendship, loyalty, pain and loss. ★★★ ! Wow, this book blew me away. It had everything an amazing book should have.
The love story was epic. The angst was on the highest level. The plot was touching and moving. It was filled with great quotes.
And it broke my heart. Which I love when a book does. Especially when it has a hea. But for me something was missing for it to be a solid 5 stars read. I am definitely kicking myself for not reading this book sooner. It's been sitting on my kindle for about six months now, I don't know why I put it off because it was absolutely amazing!!

There was such a beautiful love story here. Ryan and Fin had to work their arses off to be together and nothing was ever easy for them. But once they overcame all the obstacles, they never took their love for granted.

What started out as a lazy Sunday and a plan to read a few chapters of Fighting Redemption turned into all day marathon where I could not put this book down. After finishing, I literally felt like I had run a marathon. It was probably the most emotionally charged book I’ve ever read. My warning to readers – have a full box of tissues by your side, because you’ll need them!

After finishing, I literally felt like I had run a marathon. It was probably the most emotionally charged book I’ve ever read. Ryan and Fin have known each other since they were children. Ryan had an abusive father and spent most of his childhood staying with Fin and her brother Jake, his best friend. Ryan and Fin develop an instant connection from the moment they met, but have never taken it to the next level. Ryan has always wanted to join the Australian Army and thinks it would be unfair for Fin to have to watch him get deployed time after time and risk his life, never knowing if he will return. Feeling torn by these feelings, he still leaves, and eventually becomes a SAS soldier, along with her brother Jake. Ryan and Fin go 6 years without speaking to each other, although they are both in each others hearts. When they finally reunite, it’s not without a lot of angst and misunderstandings. Fin is now in a relationship with another man, Ian, and feels tremendous guilt over her feelings for Ryan. The book spans a period of some time where they struggle with their feelings for each though a lot of turmoil.

This book pulls no punches and touches upon so many different themes including abuse, loss, separation, reunions, illness, birth and death. I loved the characters of Fin and Ryan and the sexual tension and connection was intense! It took them forever to finally get on the same page, but when they did, it was so well worth it. My only wish is that they could have had more good times together. They were surrounded by so much grief that although they had their HEA, it just wasn’t enough enough for me to overcome my sadness.

I will say, though, that this is a beautifully written story. I have been a fan of Kate’s since her first book, but with each book her writing has matured and gotten better and better. The storyline and characters were well developed and I loved that she was still able to add some of her humor to the story with some of her scenes between Fin and Jake. I also like that she was able to touch upon some of the secondary characters, especially Kyle – maybe this is a start to a new series ;) Thanks Kate for another AMAZING read!!

First let me say that I would give this book more stars if allowed. Why it has taken me this long to get around to finally reading Fighting Redemption, I can’t tell you. I was able to purchase this for a steal at 99-cents. Suffice it to say that I’m so glad that the perfect time arrived and Ryan and Finlay’s story totally touched my heart, kept the tears flowing, and sent chills down my spine as well.
