5 STARS , favorite shelved and best read of the year, thus far.
If Shadow and Bone promised and delivered Glorious. Epic. Irresistible. Romance. Siege and Storm brought Love. Dragon. Magic. Snarkling.
It's Darkling vs Snarkling y'all.
I'm just laughing at my review for the first book, at how very elementary my assumptions were about this series. Reducing the characters to mere PNR stereotypes was my first mistake, the second w ...more

I’m going with 5! There is no way to write a review to justify how good this book was. Very possibly the best book I’ve read in terms of cover to cover in 2013! Don’t quote me because I haven’t verified..haha Right to the Favorites shelf!
This is one of those books that make me think about some of the 5s that I have on my read-shelf. In comparison I loved Shadow and Bone but if I had to make this the 5 I should change that to a 3. That is how much better this book was. Of course I wouldn’t do tha ...more

Is it 2014 yet? I need book #3 now!

What an exciting, thrilling sequel to Shadow and Bone! I have to admit, the middle part stretched out longer than I would've liked, although I do understand that it was necessary to go through the boring strategy meetings, the restlessness and the depressing moments for us to fully get the internal turmoil that Alina was going through.
So what did I love about this one?
1. Alina - She was a far more interesting character here than in the previous book. She i ...more

Well, that’s an easy 5 star +!
I ‘complained’ that the first book was missing something ‘more’, well it was definitely there in Siege and Storm!
I was blown away!!! The story was fantastic, the events and change in sceneries kept on coming and coming from the first chapter to the last (I can’t believe how many there are when I think about it)
The characters’ developments were very well done, well written, very believable. And not just for Alina, but for Mal, the Darkling, and everyone else. Alina’s ...more

More like 4.5. Alina annoyed me a bit in this, as did Mal. The newish secondary characters were great, and it started and ended strong. Somewhere in the middle I got a bit bored though. It might just be that I'm twisted and missed the Darkling however, fair warning if you're reading this to decide whether or not you should. You should, in my opinion, just don't be surprised by the lack of Darkling. Even the ending, which I liked, was rushed. I would have liked for there to be more involvement wi

This book had a little bit of a lull in the middle, and I kind of felt Mal was annoying in this book. But stick with it, the book comes around.
I adored Nikolai, he had a personality, unlike Mal. I found myself reading faster just to get to a place were I could read more Nikolai scenes. He was funny and adorable. Loved him. With that said, the Darkling is of course the always sexy bad boy. I should be ashamed of myself for thinking so, after all he is a murderer. But he's an ever lingering prese ...more
