Spellcaster (Spellbound, #2) in End of the Series Reading Challenge

Anyway onto the review…

After reading Spellbound I wasn’t sure what more there was to write about Brendan && Emma’s story. After reading Spellbound I wasn’t sure what more there was to write about Brendan && Emma’s story. I mean they already broke the curse from the first one so what the hell is book 2 gonna be about? I was intrigued to see what would happen in Spellcaster.

Spellcaster is the most PREDICTABLE book I have ever read. I mean I have read a few books were I predicted a couple of things would happen towards the end… but SPELLCASTER TOPS THE LIST. By the beginning of Chapter 4 I had already guessed what would happen near the end, but I kept on reading through. When Angelique mentioned that she used to have a “witchy friend” at Vince A in freshman I already knew that she would be a character that would pop up later in the book.

I liked the beginning it made me think whether Anthony was behind the whole teaming up with Megan, but I also thought maybe it might involve Kristin. It did involve Kristin in the end and I like the whole Anthony in hiding situation resolved.

The writing was much more clever and witty than the first book. I had so many LAUGH OUT LOUD moments. Literally I was in my room and I would laugh so hard. It made me connect with the book because the writing wasn’t all draggy or had so many descriptions. It was simple and flowed.
I really enjoyed Spellcaster and I’m not sure whether to rate it 4.5 or 5 stars. : )
The plot was surprising and it was simple. The characters seemed more developed.
- Emma was well developed and wasn’t all whiny and scared. She really stepped up.
- Brendan was even MORE swoon-worthy than ever.
- Angelique; I enjoyed reading her POV and getting to know her a bit better. Especially with meeting Randi her cousin. That was interesting. 
- CHAPTER THIRTEEN was my fave chapter of Spellcaster. (The part where Brendan is possessed). I really enjoyed it. At first I thought it was linked to how Brendan mentioned that “he might be a demon or something” from Spellbound right after he had the argument with Emma when she told him that she was witch, when that taxi nearly ran her over. Anyway… at first I thought that it might link to that but it didn’t.
Overall the book was really enjoyable and was a really fun read. Laughed more with Spellcaster and it was written well.

Great, great book, really smart of Emma, she really used Ethan's clues way better this time, because she knew what they were, and it was great to see Emma and Brendan and Angelique again!! ...more
