Breaking Dawn (The Twilight Saga, #4) in End of the Series Reading Challenge

Loved this book again, and I have the same thoughts as the previous read about Embry, and Fred. It's just so easy to read!

Loved to read this book again, and how everything worked out! I imagine a future were they find Fred from Bree Tanner, and then figure out who Embry's dad is! And having read Life and Death, imagine that within the Volturi there's a coup! That would be pretty awesome!

More like 4 3/4. I really and truly wish I could give this 5, but I just have one problem with it. It's just the thing with Bella having a baby at 18 that bothered me I think. Otherwise it was a great ending to a wonderful and heart-wrenching series that I was saddened to read the last page of.

I'm going to categorize this book into "moments":
-Happiest moment: When Bella and Edward became married (the perfect wedding in my eyes) and went off to Isle Esme. Even though it was weird tha More like 4 3/4. I really and truly wish I could give this 5, but I just have one problem with it. It's just the thing with Bella having a baby at 18 that bothered me I think. Otherwise it was a great ending to a wonderful and heart-wrenching series that I was saddened to read the last page of.

I'm going to categorize this book into "moments":
-Happiest moment: When Bella and Edward became married (the perfect wedding in my eyes) and went off to Isle Esme. Even though it was weird that Bella got married at 18, I liked how her mother didn't really put up a fight because she had seen the two of them together and was even surprised that it had taken so long! And Isle Esme was perfect, and I'm glad Meyer didn't describe in detail what they did. Leaving it to the imagination was best, especially since Bella thought it was amazing even though she woke up with feathers from a torn pillow in her hair and bruises all over her body. I actually thought that was kind of funny.
-Most awkward: When Bella dropped her towel and went into the water naked on the island. I don't know why but I just felt awkward for her being there naked going into the water... not sure how to explain it. It's funny because she always says she doesn't know how to seduce, but I imagine being naked is seductive enough for her "all too willing husband".
-Most annoying moment: When we find out that Jake imprinted on Renesmee... seriously?... What was Meyer thinking?!?! I understand that the reason Jake loved Bella was because part of the person he was supposed to imprint on was inside of her still, and Bella did want him to be like family, but this just seemed morally wrong. Meyer easily made it all fit together, but the whole thing had me grinding my teeth
-Most gruesome moment is when Bella is giving birth and Edward has to save her... no need for that much detail. It's not so bad not that I've read it a couple more times, but the initial reaction is disgust. But Edward did have a really life-saving idea when he injected his venom into her and then bit her wherever he could.
-Most life-changing: When Bella sees and hears herself for the first time, and sees how beautiful she is. Even though to Edward she's always been beautiful. Such is true love. Also, all the little stuff she starts to learn about herself as a vampire (her self-control and her gift to shield herself and other) and how she was basically born to live that kind of life.
-Most triumphant: When Bella realizes that her shield has the strength to protect everyone she loves and more, at least from the mental violence from the Volturi. Also, when she realizes that it was her shield that made them realize that they were outnumbered, and so they left. For the first time, she was the hero rather than always the victim.
-Most relieving: When Alice comes back with the half-human half-vampire guy to save the day! The first time I read this, I was hoping Alice would come back, but I was not expecting her to have company (besides Jasper) with her. This boy just like Renesmee gave the evidence the Cullens needed to make the Volturi leave, and just in time too.
-Most breathtaking is when Esme had the little cottage built for Bella and Edward in the forest. I'm a total sucker for cottages tucked away in a forest, so that was like my dream home.

There's no way to be happy with this ending, because this is one of those series where you wish it would never end. But since it had to end sometime I suppose this was a good way to do it. Some of it was annoying or hard to believe but isn't it all a little unbelievable? It's amazing how the first half was nothing like the second half. I was glad it was all put into one book, but I just felt like they could have been two different books. I feel I can relate in a small way to Bella as the person she is, so maybe that's why enjoyed these books so much. This was a wonderful and heart-warming ending to a great series. ...more

Shelves: read-in-2011

This is the fourth and final book in The Twilight Saga.

It was bittersweet: I hated for the book to end, but I also couldn’t wait for it to end to find out what happens. This series has opened up two genres for me: vampires/paranormal and Young Adult. I will definitely be scouring the Scholastic TRC catalogs for more reading material!

I have been doing a lot of googling on “If you loved Twilight, you’ll love...” I am making a list of the recommendations.
