This is the book you would get if you went to the most senior engineer you know and said to them: “Please tell me everything you know about distributed systems, both online and offline... oh, and can you also include citations?”.
It’s seriously an amazing resource, a snapshot at the time of writing, chock full of systems theory as well as practical advice on the strengths and weaknesses of each system.
