What Members Thought
Really enjoyed this tale of creatures from Jewish and Arabic legend meeting in 1890s New York City. A successful blend of historical realism and fantasy.
The writing made for a smooth, easy read. The twining points of view, and different characters held my attention. My favorite thing/character in the book was the Jinni: the spark, the fire, the heat, the crystal palace. I liked the Golem, but I don't know how to say it, other than, a golem is a weird creature to me. The settings were wonderful. The Golem's creator reminded of Adair's creator in Alma Katsu's Taker trilogy.
