I have mixed feelings about this book hence the 3 stars. There was lots I enjoyed about this but there was some of it that felt unnecessary and sewn out. As a fan of Greek mythology it had lots of the things I love but it also did some things in a weird way. Overall I'm glad I read it and I would read more from this author. ...more

Shelves: myth

A beautiful retelling of the life of the mythological Circe. I knew decent portions of the myth, but mostly (of course) from only the male character's perspectives when they encountered her in their own tales.
The prose was wonderful, and the insights into characters I've known bits and pieces of for decades was really fun for me.
Serious trigger warnings for rape though. ...more
