A conflicting read for me, the book left me quite torn. I liked to writing style, there were some really beautiful descriptions. However, I found the world to be quite complex, even with the descriptions it was difficult to gather when and where the story is set, writing about a world where fair folk exists is quite a challenge. There are a lot of long reviews here that go very in depth with this story. It's a good book and if you are interested in tales of the fae, fairyfolk, etc. you may like this one.
What sets this whole story up and running is a painting. A human girl, Isobel, is the very best artist and paints portraits of the fair folk. When one day she is painting the portrait of the autumn prince, Rook, she makes a terrible mistake and because of that she is taken away with him. A journey begins that is fraught ...more
