This book was amazing. I think it will take more than one reading to take it all in. It was the first thing I'd read by Neil Gaiman, and it won't be the last!

I love Neil Gaiman's work, his comics, his tv shows, his children's books but this was my very first attempt at reading his fiction for adults. American Gods was a thrilling novel with great characters deep settings and a lot to say, but I must admit I didn't quite enjoy it as much as his 'kiddy' works (does that mean I'm a child, not sure).

Shadow Moon is being released from prison a little early on account of the unexpected passing of his wife Laura. Well, since I grew up on German folklore and European Gods, I wasn't impressed. The only thread I liked, and the only one I fully remember is that of the missing kids in the Northern town -- and it was only a minor side-thread in the novel. One scene I enjoyed despite not much liking the rest, and that was the visit to the House on the Rocks in Wisconsin.
