What Members Thought

Santiago's struggle with the fish was most memorable to me because of the conversations he had in his head with himself , the sea, birds, the marlin, and the sharks. Hemingway writes the majority of his narrative from the conscious thoughts of Santiago and makes you feel as if you are experiencing the conflict yourself. When Santiago puts himself in the mind of the fish and speculates on the feelings the fish has, it's like an “inside perspective” inside of an “inside perspective.”
