There are many reviews on this book, so I will not try to add my inadequate version.
I will just simply say that this is amazing, and beautiful, and heart-wrenching. A tremendous love story that transcends culture and language and time. Alexander and Tatiana are so real to me now. I loved stepping into their world, feeling their love, seeing into their souls. It is tender and sad, lovely and ecstatic. Horrifying in it's realness and unimaginable heartbreak.

I love this book! The characters stole my heart ... I couldn't help thinking about them whenever I had to put the book down and couldn't wait to get back to the story. This historical fiction/romance book is the beginning of a trilogy. It takes place during WWII in Leningrad as German troops begin to invade the city.
