Grady hendrix books are hit or miss. This was an okay story, slow, but you get there eventually. The book that is full of twists and turns and suspense. Hope they make a movie from this book.

Dying isn’t the important thing. It’s nothing more than the punctuation mark on the end of your life. It’s everything that came before that matters.

so this is my first read by this author and was a book club pick. i noticed the title right away was similar to another book ive previously read called final girls and i tried not to immediately start making comparisons and assumptions that they would be the same story.

the premise of the final girls/ sole survivors storylines were all interesting. e Dying isn’t the important thing. It’s nothing more than the punctuation mark on the end of your life. It’s everything that came before that matters.

so this is my first read by this author and was a book club pick. i noticed the title right away was similar to another book ive previously read called final girls and i tried not to immediately start making comparisons and assumptions that they would be the same story.

the premise of the final girls/ sole survivors storylines were all interesting. each of the ladies involved had nothing in common aside from that and that their lives were turned into horror films, but they seemed to bond together at their support group. then of course as they started getting off'ed one-by-one, they realize they really DO need each other and to figure out who is behind it to save the rest of them.

a quick comparison: this book was more of a horror flick type of story that had scream, friday the 13th, and halloween type vibes to it. i could see this being made into a horror movie easily. anyone who likes horror movies like that will enjoy this story. for those who dont, reading and not actually seeing all of the horrific stuff may be easier. the other book had more mystery to it. so, it didnt feel like i was reading the same story all over again, which i was thankful for.

one thing that did bother me though was there were a lot of typos and i know it is stupid that things like typos bother me, but considering this author has several other published works i am assuming it was also edited. while it wont make me write off or never read anything else from this author, hopefully things like that will get noted and fixed or not repeated going forward.

while the story itself was fast paced and it was a quick easy read, i felt like it took too long to get some of the backstories on some of the characters to explain who they were, what traumas they suffered, and why they behaved as they did. also, some of the things that happened were also pretty unrealistic - like if you are beaten to the point that youre knocked out and supposedly left for dead, how on earth did you make it uphill AND continue to actively save/ fight/ kill others/ etc.? there were a lot of twists and turns so it wasnt so predictable and i didnt figure everything out too quickly, which is good because i like to be intrigued enough to want to keep reading but not already know what is going to happen the entire time before it does. overall, not my fave, but it was a decent read that i am not questioning why did i just read this. i probably should have waited until october to have read this since it would have been a good halloween/ scary story type of read but ah well. ...more
