Second book I have read by this author and absolutely loved it. Nice plot and characters. I was very surprised by the story. Worth reading it.

i have already read a couple other books by this author and being that i thought it was going to be a thriller (title kind of makes you think theres a good chance for that) and it close to halloween i decided to read it. it was a quick easy read, i read it while i was sitting on my balcony a few afternoons on my cruise last week. i didnt love it, definitely can say i enjoyed her other books more, but i didnt hate it either. it was interesting enough to keep reading and although this book tried v i have already read a couple other books by this author and being that i thought it was going to be a thriller (title kind of makes you think theres a good chance for that) and it close to halloween i decided to read it. it was a quick easy read, i read it while i was sitting on my balcony a few afternoons on my cruise last week. i didnt love it, definitely can say i enjoyed her other books more, but i didnt hate it either. it was interesting enough to keep reading and although this book tried very hard to be suspensful it had a lot more drama and whining than scary components and was kind of predictable at times. i called several things way early on. certain things were also quite disbelievable at times. since most of my thoughts are kind of spoilery...

~i get that nora was kind of traumatized by what happened in her past but it is 10 years later. i am not saying grow up and just get over it, but you cannot dwell on things forever so for her to just run away and continue to whine about it 10 years later without moving on at all seemed crazy. and seriously who breaks up with someone via text? wouldnt you want more explanation from him after dropping such a bombshell? wouldnt you wonder why she just disappeared if you didnt actually break up with her? who just takes the word of a friend over the person they are dating/ supposedly in love with?

~obviously i know there wouldnt have been any story if nora hadnt gone, but realistically why would you go to a bachelorette party for someone you havent seen in 10 years and purposely broke contact with because it reminds you about the incident in your past that traumatized you? going seemed like a very bad idea because it would stir up all those old memories she still hadnt moved past. besides wouldnt you be offended if you were invited to a bachelorette or shower but not to the wedding?

~okay this flo chick gave me a single white female roommate copycat vibe but i felt like she was too obvious to be a suspect - unless she wanted clare all for herself?

~melanie served little purpose - aside from preventing nora and nina from leaving sooner because it wouldve looked weird if all of them left early and reminding nora about the baby she didnt end up having since melanie's baby was pretty much all she talked about.

~tom served even less purpose.

~i never thought nina was a suspect. she was one of the few people nora did actually keep in touch with and she didnt even know the entire story of what happened in nora's past because she refused to talk about it. clare was the only one who knew since she went with nora.

~it was all too convenient that clare was in a coma too right after the accident. obviously not the case as we learned but yah she turned out to be a selfish psychotic bitch too. unless you think it is perfectly normal to decide it is better to kill off your fiance rather than possibly get dumped by him right before the wedding after he learned a horrible truth having to do with nora's traumatic issue, and frame your former best friend you invited to your bachelorette and who also happens to be your fiance's ex plus a good excuse as to why nora wasnt invited to the wedding of course for murder. how messed up it that?!?!

~then to end things with a cliffhanger - will nora call her ex's best friend and try to move on? obviously she cant ever be with james anymore since he is dead, but after she learned the truth about what clare did to meddle with their relationship years ago she finally forgave him so you are left to believe she got closure finally and will try to move on... but yah weak ending.

Fast-paced and well-written who-dun-it. It was very Agatha Christie-ish (which I liked) but at the same time, it seemed a bit far-fetched. The murderer and the motive were both fairly obvious mid-way, but the author still managed to keep it interesting to read till the very end.
