THE HUNGER GAMES by Suzanne Collins is probably one of my most favourite books of all time, after WUTHERING HEIGHTS, of course. It is nothing like the typical YA books you see out there on the shelves at the moment that are all promoting people with special abilities or tacky worlds. Katniss Everdeen is a strange girl, bogged down by the world she lives in. She doesn't form personal attatchments to people easily. All of a sudden, she's in the Hunger Games. Putting herself forward as a tribute, Katniss trains hard and fights the system, as well as keeping up her onscreen relationship with Peeta.
