7/31/25: The folks at the EPA (The Environmental Protection Agency) that intend to eliminate safety regulations for Americans are not economists. And they are certainly not climate scientists or environmentalists. Their intention is to free American business so that it can make unbridled profits for its billionaire CEOs. Never mind that unprecedented floods and wind and rain and heat from climate change is already costing us us billions:

All conservation of wildness is self-defeating, for to cherish we must see and fondle, and when enough have seen and fondled, there is no wilderness left to cherish.
I loved the first half, in essence the titular Sand County Almanac but then things went Bruce Chatwin (I suppose there are myriad factors influencing this ambivalence). I appreciated the digressions on birdsong and the innumerable chains of being which link even copse of trees.
