[close] The Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor is a very good book. I would recommend it to anybody, especially people who like the Mortal Instruments series and Holly Black's Modern Faerie Tales. It is about a girl who is very mysterious and has many talents. She is an amazing artist, claims her Rockabilly blue hair grows naturally from her head, and created and drew her own characters and her own world. Or did she? You learn the answers to these questions and mysteries as you learn her story. There are angels, demons, lost love, and found memories. Laini Taylor has created an ingenious and original story and character that I hope many readers will enjoy as much as I did.

I loved the world building, the lush descriptions, the odd names, and the story itself. I wasn't too crazy about all the flashbacks at weird times. I realize it was necessary to complete the story, but I've never been a flashback fan. Other than that, I liked it. ...more
