What Members Thought
Coates has incredible mastery over his prose. However, there are two big problems with it: the medium of his prose and its content. The medium, a letter to his son, doesn't work because the book is his own autobiography, so it just feels like he wrote his son, who's at an emotional low, a self-centered letter about himself.
