Very thorough, very detailed and very interesting account of the election of Ronald Reagan in 1980.
My only gripe is that I don't think I'd recommend this to anyone who isn't already broadly in agreement with Perlstein about Reagan. Ronald Reagan has become a bit of a figurehead for modern conservatism and so it's pretty irresistible for liberals like myself and Perlstein to resist wanting to knock him down a few pegs.
