Hmmm. I was not a huge fan.
While there were elements of the historical events that definitely kept my interest, I was constantly aware of the mental comparison I was making between other Tudor period novels I have loved, and how this one could not compete. The language in this book was a lot more simplistic and lacked the poetry and imagery that Mantel and Sansom have. As to the story itself, there was definitely parts that I found interesting, but ... 4.5 stars - really enjoyed this book! I prefer this book over Anne Boleyn’s in the Tudor Queen series and cannot wait for Jane Seymour’s book out May 2018.
