I was unsure what to make of this one. The premise from what I had heard, did not interest me as much as others do, but I bought it because I had heard of it and it was on special. And then I read it. What a ride. I know the pacing is a bit slow in the beginning, but it is worth it. Everything comes together to make a very well thought out story and very well crafted story.

My inability to categorize Claire North is making me feel uneasy. If this is “in the vein” of anything, perhaps it’s The Time Traveler’s Wife or Sleeping Giants. Pop soft sci-fi? I’m deliberately avoiding digging for the inevitable snare in the time sequencing (difficult to do) because I like the writing and the novel walked a tidy line between being a light and heavy read.
