the first half of this book was fascinating, thought provoking, and well presented. everything went downhill very fast from there. i hate to admit that this one was overall pretty underwhelming, but maybe it’s my fault because i need a better base understanding of quantum theory and the cosmos in general? the explanation of the game of life and m theory felt incomplete and confusing, and it was hard to plug along. i give the grand design a generous 3 1/2 stars ☾
