Standard Howardian disclaimer first: Robert E. Howard was living in a small town in Texas in the 1920s & 30s and writing, very quickly, for pulp magazines, so his stories sometimes feature ... suboptimal portrayals of people of other races & ethnic backgrounds, and ditto portrayals of women (if any).

Solomon Kane is one of my favorite REH heroes, a Puritan on a rampage to deliver God's justice whenever & wherever he finds it lacking. From England to the darkest parts of Africa, Solomon Kane travels the world, righting wrongs.

Howard is brilliant, Solomon Kane is dark, Wordsworth are a fine company. It's a great edition, superbly edited. Kane is a vigilante puritan who stalks the night righting wrongs. Vivid, stark unrelenting Howard.
