***1/2: C.L. Moore is an iconic name in pulp but her Northwest Smith stories vary in quality. The best of the bunch (Shambleau, Dust of the Gods) are as good as any of the works of Howard, Lovecraft, & Leiber, which makes it a shame the rest are quite up to the standard.
