Well, I finally finished book 1. It was…just ok. It was never terrible, the chapters were short and punchy, and there was some good scenes here and there. But it wasn’t quite as action-oriented as the cover art implies, nor as dark and gritty. If the book had been trimmed by about 70-80 pages it would have moved along a bit faster. This was first in a series of books based on Frank Frazetta's painting of Death Dealer. There are 4 in the series and all have covers featuring the Death Dealer character.
