I have to much books to read to continue this.
A Mary-Sue (Gary Stu?) lead character who is an amnesiac, who is liked immediately by everyone he meets, way too much pages about juggling, the most obvious plot 'twist', info dumpy world building, non-humans that are just weird looking humans and that's just the first 100 pages.

Takes Jack Vance's Big Planet as a stepping off point. Very ornate, lovely world-building, and while it has a science fiction background to the tale, it has a fantasy veneer. Lord Valentine I found to be a very interesting and engaging character, and the cast of characters is varied and likeable. Very well thought out world, with an interesting society, interesting history, and a masterful depiction by Silverberg of a variety of peoples and settings.
