Before They Are Hanged
This is the second Joe Abercrombie novel I’ve had the pleasure of delving into – the second of “The First Law” series, come to that – and I have to say, it’s one of the best continuation books I’ve read. This book was ridiculously addicting. I cannot remember the last time I picture a character as vividly as I did Sand Dan Glotka. Wow. About to start on book 3. I'll be sad when this trilogy ends.

Very very mature subject matter here. If you can deal with that, you’re in for some great writing and even greater characters. One of the heroes is the scariest berserker I’ve ever read. A rarity here is that of the different viewpoints / plot threads there was a nice balance of wanting to get back to each one, as opposed to one being the more interesting and the others a slog like some novels I’ve read. This is The Empire Strikes Back of novels. Can’t wait to read the next one.

Gonna take a break from the trilogy. I'll get back to it soon though.
