Heed me mortal dogs, Sword & Sorcery fans will devour these tales!
Eight new engaging tales printed in superb format. As per the Tales from the Magician's Skull series, all are graced with RPG item/character statistics so readers can play out the stories, or play with key parts of them; the stats are in Dungeon Crawl Classics form which can readily be applied to other formats. Most have a King-sent-me-on-a-mission premise, but all are varied in tone and style. The illustrations are wonderful too. ...more

A smorgasbord of swords and sorceries fill this issue. This one overall is quite darkly themed with tales horrific and sorrowful. Lots of bloody action from a mix of returning and new characters from new and returning authors. This magazine continues the high quality of cover, material, and presentation.

Issue 4 has some regular characters and continues the trend of fun Sword & Sorcery treats by modern authors.
My only complaint is sometimes I can feel the constraints of stories that could be played out in a DCC game. It isn’t as blatant as say the Forgotten Realm novels, or even my favorite Warhammer books, but it is there.
If you backed the KS, you might have received the bonus booklet with this issue that contains a story by John C Hocking and a Morlock tale (I forget the author’s name).
