This book just plain amazed me. I find it very hard to put my finger on what Wagner did with this character, but somehow you always feel that Kane is neither really human nor simply a sorcerer. Whenever he appears there is something very unnatural about him and very often you see much of his adventures through the eyes of other people who are crossing his path and are swept along with him, which helps a lot with maintaining a healthy distance from him and not automatically developing sympathy fo ...more
