This is the first time i`ve read this and loved it seeing as it celebrated its 100 anniversary not long ago, the ideas that went into this are epic and you can see the influence it has had on starwars and the rest. Olde style adventure at its best i `m defintely going to read the rest of the series.

Somehow, in all my decades of reading fantasy and science fiction, I never read this most seminal of texts. I loved it! What a great story, filled with monsters, sword fights, science fiction, and alien weirdness. I saw the much maligned (unfairly, in my opinion) big budget movie John Carter and liked it well enough...but as usual, I liked the book more.
