This is the first time i`ve read this and loved it seeing as it celebrated its 100 anniversary not long ago, the ideas that went into this are epic and you can see the influence it has had on starwars and the rest. Somehow, in all my decades of reading fantasy and science fiction, I never read this most seminal of texts. I loved it! What a great story, filled with monsters, sword fights, science fiction, and alien weirdness. I saw the much maligned (unfairly, in my opinion) big budget movie John Carter and liked it well enough...but as usual, I liked the book more. I read these originally in my teens, and fell in love with the fantasy world on Mars.
Modern authors don't write like this anymore.

Great series read them all, they have small print so their not as short as they look. ...more
