The book as a whole is a good, solid 4.5 star anthology. As with most collections, it has its hits and misses. Happily, more of the latter.
"Stories From the Spinner Rack" - introduction by GRRM. A nice look into the early reading habits of GRRM and his early influences. Reminds me of Dreamsongs I. I need to go back and read Dreamsongs II. 4 stars for the intro.
"The King of Norway" by Cecilia Holland. Nice Viking story that was pretty interesting. The characters seemed pretty good too, or would h ...more

This is tofu. It was bland to the point where the very notion of spice or surprise seems alien. It fills the mental stomach without giving any taste or joy. Reading it was a chore. I read it, so that I can move on to the next readable work. One may say that this is a truly existential work that poses a very basic question.
Why do I keep reading such ghastly stuff presented in the name of SFF?

meh. far too wide a definition of 'warrior' -- could have been a series of warrior-themed anthologies that allowed readers to pick and choose which types they desire to read. instead, forced a bunch of genres/styles/markets together.

Very much enjoyed the 3rd Dunk and Egg story. I hope we will see some more of them some day! I also enjoyed The King of Norway story by Cecelia Holland. Always a sucker for a Viking tale!
