This work contains four sword and sorcery novellas by David A. Hardy, C. J. Burch, Jack Mackanzie, and G. W. Thomas, in that order. All were good. The Hardy tale is "Temple of the Rakshasa," and features a son of the steppes in the exotic land of ancient India. This one had perhaps the best setting. This volume contains 4 sword and sorcery novellas. All are quite different, but enjoyable. The description stated in the tradition of Flashing Swords from the 70’s, but I don’t see much of that here. This is definitely more of a modern take on the genre. I look forward to the next 2 books.

Full disclosure, I'm a contributor to this tome of Sword & Sorcery tales. "Two Fools For the Price of One" by C. J. Burch continues his Addux and Kouer series. Two assassins are hired to kill a wizard but find themselves embroiled in much worse. "The Pieces in a Game" is part of Jack Mackenzie's Sirtaigo and Poet series, following the ruthless swordsman and his more thoughtful companion into the machinations of an insane queen and her terrible master.
