4.5*'s.
At 75% of the way through The Emperor's Blades I was 100% sure I was done with this series. The last 25% talked me into continuing and I'm glad I did. The last two and a quarter books were excellent. A very satisfying ending on a lot of levels. I think this was Providence of Fire's equal which was one of the better middle of the series books.
This was an audio series for me and Simon Vance is now one of my favorites. He added to the experience.
Looking forward to the standalone Skullswor ...more

This teettured from 4-5 stars for me, although I reserve five stars for few books. No spoilers here.
This was a dark book.
Well we come to the end of an excellent trilogy that started with The Emperor's Blades. Here all three children have strong points of view chapters, while we add another , Gwenna to the mix, who plays a major role in this story.
All three Malkeenian children have drastically changed since book one, experiencing darkness, death, dis-loyalties, murder, rivalry etc.
