First a disclaimer. My history of following the adventures of Geralt of Rivia is rather chequered. I was introduced to the White Wolf by being gifted a copy of 'The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt' for the Xbox One. I absolutely loved that game. The rich lore, the memorable characters, the complex relationships, the grey moral choices... It was fantastic. I also really enjoyed the DLC 'Heart of Stone' and the Blood and Wine DLC. Today I will be reviewing Sword of Destiny by Andrzej Sapkowski

I want to start off by saying I am NOT a gamer and know nothing of the video games. So if you want to talk to me about the games, sorry! Nothing against gamers, its just not my thing. I know the games were based on these books, and are very popular.

I have seen many people say how great these books are, and that they are very Sword and Sorcery, Conan Esq pulpy fantasy, which is totally me! So yes I had to check them out!

If there’s one thing this fifth book in the Witcher series brings home to me, its that TV adaptations – no matter how good – aren’t a patch on the written word.
Sword of Destiny is a collection of short stories, (some of which you will have already seen if you’ve watched the Netflix adaptation), (yes, I know!) which serves as a welcome interlude from the main story arc of Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer.
