I was lucky to get a copy of this novel, but when reading this tale of a crippled young man who's life is pointed in a direction of learning and servitude for the people, takes a drastic turn when his father and older brother is murdered and now he is taken away from his chosen direction in life, and is made the next King!

Young adult? Sure, a more linear plot, a younger protagonist, and a shorter page count.. On all other counts this is not your standard young adult stuff. It feels like the label has more been applied to this because of the marketing value, than because of the contents.
That said, this is great stuff for all Abercrombie fans. Sure, it's not set in the First Law world, but this new setting is a pretty nice take on the pretty saturated Viking inspired bulk of fantasy books. The book drags a bit duri ...more
