The Lightning Thief is a fictional book and is the first book in the Percy Jackson series. This book is about a twelve year old boy living in Queens, New York with his single mother. On Percy's first day of the summer after sixth grade, Percy soon discovers there is something wrong with him. He soon discovers that he is a half-blood; a half-human and half-god. Percy is then taken to a camp for half-bloods located in New York. When Percy arrives at the camp, he learns many new things about him. Percy is then taken to a camp for half-bloods located in New York. When Percy arrives at the camp, he learns many new things about him. One thing is that he is a half-blood and his real father is Poseidon, god of the seas. As Percy is attending the camp, Zeus the king of all gods, discovers that his master bolt has been stolen. Percy's father Poseidon is blamed and Percy is sent to go find the master bolt. As Percy is on his adventure he gains some friends, Grover and Annabeth. In the end, Percy returns the master bolt and he learns of some scary information, a member of the camp and one of his friends, Luke confesses that he was the thief of the master bolt and he serves Kronos, an enemy of the gods and that they are planning to destroy the gods. I thought this was a pretty good book in general and was pretty informational about the history of the greek gods. This book was also pretty interesting because of the adventure.

I liked many things about this book. One of the things I really enjoyed about this book was the topic of the book. I was always interested in greek mythology and this book wasn't as boring as other historical books as this book is not based on the history. Another thing I liked about this book was the adventure throughout the story.

Although I thought this was a pretty good book, there were a few things that i disliked about it, however only a few. One thing i didn't like was I felt like this book was not as action packed as I anticipated. Other things that some other people might not like about this book is the historical references in this book about the greek gods. Another thing others may not like about this book is the adventure and the violence throughout the story.

My final thought on this book are this was a great book and I will most likely read the second book to continue the series. I think this book is mainly targeted for middle school, high school and people who enjoy adventure and mythology. ...more
