I was detached throughout most of this book. I can't say I honestly cared that much for any of the characters. The book felt dated - like even if I didn't know it was written in the 70's, it read like it was written in the 70's.

I wavered between 4 & 5 stars for this one but decided because that even though it seems a bit simplistic in it's prose, it's so tight plot-wise to be almost brilliant and it deserved 5 stars. The story is overwhelming in scope even though told from a first person perspective. Everything changes around this protagonist up to and including the nature of humanity. The "forever" in the title is not much of an exaggeration and is everything to the plot but not in any way I could have imagined, it's
