Overall, not really a fan.
The beginning is really really slow. I kept putting the book down it was so slow. It does get better and I will say I really enjoyed the back third of the book.
There are some really fun concepts and starts to world building but nothing is fully fleshed out. I like the idea but it was poor execution. Maybe it’s more developed in the 2nd and 3rd book but I wanted more. The magic system isn’t explained, the Alanga are just the unseen boogie men.
