Also read for the PopSugar 2022 Challenge Prompt - 31 - A man made disaster (that’s kinda a stretch but partly true we are gonna go with it - the plot is super vague on what actually happened originally but the downfall of everything else is man-made so I’m counting it)

What a complete and total snooze fest! I strongly disliked this book. I was so so bored and kept setting it down. It was just dumb and made little to no sense.

This kinda reminds me of man in the high castle. Interesting world concept - poor execution of everything else.

The world building offers a really interesting premise. Something has happened to humanity and there are no longer any children. Okay great premise…. But what happened? We don’t know. It was suggested it was viral, but also all frozen sperm was also damaged and no longer was viable. So it has been 25 years since a child has been born. The last year of children born the Omegas are now privileged spoiled brats that run the roads in packs/hordes killing people because they were spoiled. Okay? People because they can no longer have children have lost the desire to have sex so there are state run porn centers to try to entice people to have sex so they want to don’t forget how to procreate. … again interesting idea but this is kinda out there for me.

The story is set in London and our main character Theo is the cousin of the warden of England (basically a dictator that assumed power after the event). He is approached by a band of rebels that wants him to talk to his cousin. He does - nothing happens. (That’s part one and more than 50% of the book)

Then roughly 6 months later miracle of miracles the head female rebel turns up pregnant. Why? How? We don’t know. Their group is on the run and they don’t want to be found… so they drive around until the baby is born and then confront to warden.

Then the ending… just sigh I mean I saw it coming but seriously Theo? What are you thinking with Julian?

Just so so dumb. It’s an interesting premise but honestly I fell asleep reading it it was so boring.

From what I understand while the movie is set in kind of the same world as the book. (Women lost fertility not men) it is so much better. Don’t waste your time on the book.
