Read for the Dead & Unread Book Club.

Where do I even begin? The first half of the book is a complete snooze fest. It does have its interesting points but NOTHING happens. The 2nd half of the book is an acid trip of random. I started out liking it but yeah it was not for me.

This is a rare instance where I will say save yourself and watch the TV show. The book isn’t worth reading.

So plot summary:

I was instantly absorbed in this novel. It reads like a collaboration between C.S. Lewis, J.K. Rowling, and Bret Easton Ellis, with a lot of Dungeons and Dragons references.

How can anyone make magic school seem so boring? Like nothing interesting is happening at all. It's just a never ending internal dialogue of smugness vying with self-loathing and hormones. I think I'm just not the intended audience for this book. If
