[close] I haven't read much of this book (Sense I am more focused on reading the manga I find online)but so far the main character of the book (Aron Ralston, who is also the author to this book)ventures into a crayon and ends up into an accident that could be proven fatal. His arm is stuck to a wall from a boulder and because of it he is trapped. So far the story is a bit interesting to me (Not as much as the manga I am reading, lolololol) but I know it'll get better as I read it more.

Between a Rock and a Hard Place by Aron Ralston is an autobiography about Aron's experience of being trapped in the Blue John Canyon in Utah and having to amputate his arm in order to free himself from a boulder that got him trapped. In my opinion, the story was interesting enough to read, but the flashbacks presented about his childhood, his increased outdoor activities after moving to Indiana, his growing obsession with outdoorsmenship, and him leaving his engineering career to do as much outd Between a Rock and a Hard Place by Aron Ralston is an autobiography about Aron's experience of being trapped in the Blue John Canyon in Utah and having to amputate his arm in order to free himself from a boulder that got him trapped. In my opinion, the story was interesting enough to read, but the flashbacks presented about his childhood, his increased outdoor activities after moving to Indiana, his growing obsession with outdoorsmenship, and him leaving his engineering career to do as much outdoor activities as possible was not as interesting. The part where he amputates his arm sorta freaked me out based on how he was describing it. I held my left arm the entire time when reading that part.

My favorite part of this book was the amputation part and after that. Despite how it freaked me out, it was the only other part of the book ( Besides the part where he gets trapped by the boulder)where I can not look away from the pages. The thought of amputating your own arm is pretty scary. Imagine seeing the arm after you amputate it, the pain from doing it, and the blood that will be around after the process. It was interesting to me however, despite how I was sorta freaked out and that my left arm sorta got numb from the thought.

The only thing I probably didn't like about this book is that a good portion of it wasn't really that interesting to me. It was hard for me to read the first thirty pages sense not much happened besides Aron beginning his adventure in the Blue John Mountain. The flashbacks were really not interesting to me either. Despite ho these flashbacks do not interest me, they acknowledge readers about Aron's growing love of doing outdoor activities. They also can be seen as the comedy in the story and as a way to calm down readers after reading the more action-filled parts. Some people may find the beginning along with the flashbacks to be boring as well.

I like the main story of this book. It was pretty boring until when he finally gets himself trapped in the canyon. The amputation part is another interesting part of the story.The flashbacks were more of a way to help people cool down after reading the more action-filled parts that relate to Aron's growing hobby of doing outdoor activities. People who love stories about adventures in the canyons should definately read this book. People who also just want to read a random book should also try this one out. ...more
