The book abounds in irony. It's a brilliantly executed satire of the John Foster & Allan Dulles types that pervaded the CIA in the 1950s. Unfortunately, some of that American stupidity still exists, still needs to be satirized. The present to the past back to the present structure may be off putting to some readers, but it delivers the correct level of punch and truth.
