I love Steinbeck, so it was no surprise to me that I loved this book. No one can quite create a place with such colorful, deep characters like he can. What took me off guard (in a nice way) was how funny this book was. There were several points where I actually laughed out loud, which I think just speaks to his talent. The descriptions and language were unreal too. One of my favorite Steinbecks thus far.
