I did not enjoy this book. The protagonist and his outsider view of life is sad and pathetic and made me angry. I did respect the honesty in his expression that life was meaningless because without God, that is the honest and ultimate conclusion man must reach. I should point out that Mr. Meursault is indeed a cold blooded murder in my opinion, despite the fact that his act was not premeditated. I also disliked the prosecuting magistrate. I'm having a hard time reviewing this book. I left me sort of perplexed, and with no strong feelings either way (love/hate). However, I think that's the beautiful irony of the book. because Meursault, the protagonist, feels neithers the highs nor the lows. In fact, he doesn't feel much of anything. I won't give anything away in this review, as is my tendency, but upon some research I discovered that this is considered one of the greatest Existentialist novels. And that doesn't surprise me. This

Honest - I know that this book is like a wet dream for existentialism and what have you. Maybe because of my psychology background but it felt like reading a book where the main character has some variant of autism. So his behaviour wasn't that surprising from that angle.
