I just want to add a simple review as you can read the reason why I don't like this book from my comment section below.

But I just want to emphasize here that I don't like it basically because of Camus' absurdity philosophy (aside from the story plot as I only enjoy the first-half of the book). Well for me personally if one doesn't like the main idea, why bother l Review on June 29th.

But I just want to emphasize here that I don't like it basically because of Camus' absurdity philosophy (aside from the story plot as I only enjoy the first-half of the book). Well for me personally if one doesn't like the main idea, why bother liking the book at all. Don't get me wrong, I admire Camus as a philosopher, but I don’t agree with most of his theory. Why? Because I'm a believer. I don't know if I've been objective enough seeing a philosophical novella by thinking of my own faith. Well I've read on another philosophical book that believers tend to see philosophy as the contrary of their faith so that they don't bother learning it at all; and that particular book also told me that philosophy is a substantial and people often misunderstood philosophy as the result not the methods of thinking, which should be the contrary. I wrote all that just to make sure that I'm not against philosophy or anything when reviewing this book. But I don't know how to separate this kind of philosophy of which I don't believe cause people say that a leap of faith concludes to the death of philosophy as we believe to the uncertainties.

I'll just stop it right here as philosphy is not my area of expertise and I'm afraid that I'll ramble too much that my writing will be all nonsense eventually.

PS. I owe myself to read 'The Myth of Sisyphus'.

PPS. I don't mind Meursault being peculiar, ignorant, and how he always complains about the weather and even doing his crime with 'the hot weather' as an excuse/alibi. That's his character, I get that (if you misunderstood what I've written below as I just realized that I wrote it in two different sentences which make it pretty ambiguous as if I don't like his character because of him being all peculiar). ...more

All I can say is I felt like I have read this book for the first time, because when I read it when I was 16 I just don't think I had the understanding of the world to get it. I read it now and understood it a lot better. ...more
