Hmm. Well, this was different than I thought it would be. But it did suck me right in, which I wasn’t expecting. However, I was caught off guard at how pagan this world was—blood sacrifices and all. I think if it was an author other than C.S. Lewis I would’ve found it even more disconcerting. At least with Lewis I knew there would be a point in there somewhere. This book is a retelling of the Myth of Cupid and Psyche. It's about the suffering of love in faith. It is a book that takes a hard, honest look into the way our hearts love. It is like looking into a mirror when you are alone with no make-up on and a bright light shinning so that you can see every blemish and wrinkle with such clarity that you want to shut off the light and look away.
