I read this Maugham book after reading Of Human Bondage. What I liked best was how Larry was able to create his own religion, so to speak, based on all the travels he had experienced. I sometimes feel that my view of the world is different because of all the places I have travelled too. People who do not have the opportunity to travel see things differently and sometimes are not as open minded about the differences of human kind! I was amazed the last 50 pages were filled with such elaborate wisdom. I had never read this book before and didn't read any reviews until afterwards, but I was pleasantly surprised!! what a wonderful read.
