Victorian mystery/thriller; a thickish volume, but an easy read. Different sections narrated by different protagonists - innovative in its day.
A rather big coincidence is crucial to the plot (and some lesser ones), but such contrivance is quite common in the genre.
More unusually, there are double doses of many things: 2 heroes, 2 villains, 2 victims, 2 country houses - and enough twists etc to keep it interesting.

Well that was a ride!
This is a mystery/legal thriller. Each chapter is holds one more piece to the puzzle. I had a lot of fun watching this one be put together, so I won't spoil too much here.
Chapter 25 was my favorite. The one where Walter goes to see a lawyer. Everything is put into a legal perspective and you get to see the big picture of what all these tiny little things mean and what you're gonna spend the rest of the season doing with them!
