Therese Raquin is less than 200 pages long, about miserable people and murder, and rather well-written and yet it's time for me to admit that I need to give up. How did we get here? This is my usual wheelhouse and still I can't (won't?) read more than 5 pages at once before exchanging the book for my phone or taking a nap regardless of whether I was tired when I sat down to read.

Good beginning. The middle and ending was drawn out. Terrible devious treatment by Laurent and Therese, poor Francois (cat) and Mrs. Raquin's final days.

This took forever to get through. The characters and situation were just so hard to be interested in continuing. Perhaps it was just the translation.
