Since this book's a classic, on many a high school summer reading list, I'll keep my comments brief. Tim O'Brien writes stories that hit you in the solar plexus, and then leaves you dazed as you wonder how and why in the hell he just suckerpunched you. He's crystal clear that war makes people behave evil. Period. I listened to the audible version of this book so I enjoyed the book over an extended amount of time. I liked the stories in the book it reminded me of my time in the Corps and how the people around you was your reality no matter what was going on in the rest of the world. O'Brien basically has made a Vietnam version of Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse Five (if you haven't read that, you really should).
